Summit Education Initiative (SEI) successfully held the First Quarterly Virtual Out Of School Time Program Network Meeting on September 8th, 2020. SEI works with more than 60 active OSTP partners that provide out of school time services throughout the school year and during summer break to the children in Summit County. The OSTP Quarterly Network meetings not only proffer OSTP organizations an opportunity to network with partner organizations but also allows these organizations to share and solve unique challenges and plausible resources with each other. This year’s first network meeting was all the more central in bringing together more than 30 partner organizations virtually amidst the COVID crisis.

Our OSTP Facilitator, Piya Chatterjee, hosted and led the discussions over a virtual session where she presented the overarching best practices and research-based programming opportunities for high-quality OSTP program content and delivery. She also demonstrated the ODE strategic plan 2019-2024 for the best possible education of our students and how it aligns with SEI’s vision statement. It was followed by the first of the two virtual breakout sessions. The first breakout session had the organizations discuss their revised and titivated virtual programmings and socio-emotional challenges faced by their beneficiary students. They further discussed their innovative endeavors and assistance for their students to overcome these challenges, apart from improving their program-specific goals and outcomes.

The second part of the session had Chatterjee present the SEI – Cradle to Career leading indicators of success and linking OSTP program content with student outcomes and use of www.youthview.org. In her discussion, she allied the student academic outcomes and the Youth View Surveys with these six data points – leading indicators. The OSTPs reaffirmed their programming key focus areas and target outcomes using the Youth View Portal and Surveys in an energetic and sustainable second breakout session discussion.

We look forward to further continuing this active networking and dialogue in our next OSTP meetings throughout the academic year 2020-2021!
