Parent Voice

Summit County Parent Coalition

Parents are pivotal partners in driving student success. The Summit County Parent Coalition (SCYC) brings together caregivers, family advocates and community stakeholders to ensure family voices shape Summit County’s educational landscape. Our parents collaborate with SEI and cross-sector partners to influence policies, drive system improvements and champion equitable opportunities for all children.

Parent Voice Makes a Difference

When families are engaged and empowered, entire communities thrive. Here’s why parent voice is central to everything we do.

Authentic Perspective

Parents provide firsthand insight into the needs, strengths and barriers families face. When family voices guide decisions, solutions address real challenges at home and in school.

Collective Advocacy

Organized parent groups amplify concerns and priorities, rallying communities, educators and policymakers around shared goals for equity, access and student success.

Empowered families

When parents have a platform and the tools to lead, they gain confidence, build networks and become advocates not just for their own children, but for the county’s entire youth population.

Stronger Outcomes

Research shows that increased family engagement leads to higher academic achievement, better attendance and improved social-emotional well-being. Engaged parents help sustain positive change over the long term.

Take our Summit County Parent Voice Survey

This countywide survey is conducted annually and gathers input on family priorities, experiences with early childhood programs and perceptions of school climate. Survey results identify trends, inform resource allocation, and guide policy recommendations.
