SEI’s Out of School Time Partner Network Facilitator, Piya Chatterjee, convened Tech Training Webinars by APS Technology Specialist, Carrie Evans for the community organizations. Two sessions of the hour-long webinar were held on October 1st and 6th brought together an admirable strength of 73 Out of School Time Partner (OSTP) leaders and staff. Many of SEI’s OSTP Network community organizations have been supporting the virtual learning of Akron Public School students, as the district decided to adopt a virtual model of instructional delivery during their First Marking Period. Carrie Evans presented the “Chrome Book Basics For Community Support” – Training to these community partners, serving school-age Akron Public School students during daytime hours. The presentations extended helpful advice and orientation on, Chrome Book, Google Meet basics, e-learning know-how and navigation, attendance recording for students, face to face elementary and secondary schedules for APS students, and even connectivity troubleshooting during the school day. The sessions ended with the floor open for Q&A and discussions among the attendees. The Early Childhood Resource Center (ECRC) and SEI had earlier promoted and delivered this training to child care centers serving school-aged children in Akron.
